Solution: (i) Dr. share capital A/c $ 24,000 Cr. Share forfeiture A/c $ 12,000 and share allotment A/c $ 12,000. (ii) Dr. bank a/c $ 29,000 and shares forfeited A/c $ 1,000; Cr share capital A/c $ 30,000 (iii) Dr. share forfeited A/c and Cr. Capital reserve A/c by $ 11,000.
Example: R Ltd. Forfeited 200 equity shares of $10 each issued at a premium of $ 5 per shoe payable along with allotment for the non- payment of allotment money of $ 8 per share (including premium). Application was $2 per share. The forfeited share was reissued for $ 2,000 as fully paid. Pass necessary journal entries.
Solution: capital reserve $400 $400 (share forfeiture) - $ Nil (loss on reissue)
Example: X Ltd. Forfeited 100 share of $10 each ($8 called up) for the non- payment of the allotment money of $5 per share Including $2 as premium of these 800 shares were re- issued to S at $7 per shares as $8 called up journalize the above transactions in the books of X Ltd.
Solution: capital reserve $ 3,200.
Example: ABC Ltd. Forfeited 150 equity shares of $10 each issued at a premium of $ 5 per share for non- payment of allotment money of $ 8 per share (including premium of $ 5 per share), the first call of $2 per share and the final call of $3 per share. Out of these 100 equity share were reissued at $14 per share .give journal entries in the books of the company to record the forfeiture and reissue of shares.
